BeX wickham 3

The Wickham festival kicked of on Thursday 3rd August, with a sell out crowd and artists line up over the four days, with something for everyone with headline acts KT Tunstall & 10cc on Thursday, Friday the crowd enjoyed Seth Lakeman and Show of Hands and Saturday the Oyster Band and The Leverllers took to the main stage.

It was then the turn of Country Americana singer songwriter BeX and her band taking to the second main stage at ‘Wickham’ on the Hapi Festival stage (main-stage 2) playing alongside Gibb Todd, Ray Cooper & John Otway, with headline act Goat Roper Rodeo Band closing the evening. BeX and her band performed songs from her debut album ‘Story So Far, this was her debut festival performance and to be honest she couldn’t of asked for a better festival to launch on, the set was bright, energetic with some real catchy tunes with great lyrical content with a strong energy from her band, with Guy Hassell on base, Richard Wood on guitar and Kyle Fenton on drums and percussion – starting the set with her debut singe ‘Time to stop the rain’, which was quite fitting as the day was full of bright sunshine, which was not the case at the start of the festival.

The set was for 45 minutes, and with a very warm and enthusiastic crowd of several hundred people packing the big top to see the performance from this Country Americana artist, but with a little of pop rock in for good measure. For BeX first festival performance, I would say a great start to the festival scene and we’ll be looking forward to the next show….

Before the Wickham Festival BeX graced the BBC introducing stage for Cowes Week at Sheperds Wharf, she performed songs from her debut album with a stripped back acoustic set, with Jamie Woodford joining the band on stage with added percussion, with the Wickham festival set being a full band performance, it was a great contrast…. BeX performed on the BBC stage at 5pm, with again a very enthusiastic crowd, especially with BeX fan base and network several people travelled a long way to catch the singer songwriter perform at Cowes for the BBC.

The next stop for the UK singer songwriter is with the BBC once again, with a house band invite from BBC Radio Kent, performing on the James Whale show. This artist has a real presence with a very strong backing from her musicians, certainly moving in the right direction and energy.

PRB Media are very honoured to present these exciting blogs & information from legendary music manager, Ms Vicky Hamilton, with the second in the series of blogs featuring Slash (Guns N’ Roses) “It’s been an interesting road from the mid 90s up until now,” says Slash. “I never stopped to think, ‘What am I gonna to do in the long term?’ Or ruminated on my solo career, where it was heading. I’ve just been jamming around, going wherever the muse has taken me. And this is the first time where I feel like I’m in the saddle and riding my own destiny with some genuine focus.”

Long time Grammy Award-Winning music industry executive and personal manager, featured in VH-1s Behind the Music, Driven and the Biography Channel’s on Guns ‘N’ Roses, Brett Michaels, and Mötley Crüe and the BBC series Born To Be Wild, The Golden Age Of American Rock.

Considered one of the most successful music executives in the industry, Vicky has discovered, developed or managed the careers of Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, Poison, Faster Pussycat and many others. In 1988, David Geffen hired her as A&R executive at Geffen Records, where she stayed until 1992. She has also worked with famed manager Elliot Roberts at Lookout Management/ Vapor Records, before moving to Capitol Records as A&R consultant with longtime friend Gary Gersh.

At the House of Blues after watching Johnny Cash perform, Rick Rubin (Def Jam, American, Columbia Records) suggested she make a record with June Carter Cash. Hamilton shopped June’s demos around to all the major labels but there was a reluctance to sign this country legend.
This is when Vicky started her own label Small Hairy Dog and gave June a label
to call home. Her CD, Press On was released in 1999 and earned a Grammy Award in 2000.

As Hamilton later stated, “I didn’t plan on starting a record company, I just knew that June’s music needed to be heard.”Currently, Vicky owns and operates Aesthetic V management and productions, which represents and develops bands, artist and special projects.  Enjoy the second blog in the series with Slash….next blog will be Vicky Hamilton interviewing Trash McSweeney… For more information see the links below..

Nickelback (c) Nick ElliottPRB Media  is  a celebrity & music booking agency. We are one of the leading booking agencies who book high profile entertainment worldwide. We work with some of the top and biggest agents, managers, agencies, record companies & labels in the world. Below is some information on how to book a ‘Celebrity’ or How to book a ‘music star’ from PRB Media & other talent agencies.

After booking many celebrities and music stars and artists for many events, shows for many years. Have you ever read articles or seen on the news that very famous singers such as “Beyonce” have made stage appearances at bat mitzvah’s, weddings, and other commonly known “life altering” events….. Major artists can attend or perform at a varied selection of events around the world, however large or small, from parties to large arenas, tours, corporate events and festivals.

I do not own the rights to the information I will list below, but PRB Media have given you an idea on ‘How to Book a Celebrity or music star Guide’ When you are thinking about booking a major Hollywood celebrity or music star to perform or just make an appearance at your event, show, Festival or awards ceremony there are a couple things to consider to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Here is a small list of things to keep in mind.
  • Make sure you have a realistic time frame, as most celebrities are booked out very far in advance, as much as a year or more. You want to plan ahead to avoid disappointment.

  • Do you have the budget to obtain the celebrity you want? If not, you may want to try and get a sponsor to offset the cost or cover it entirely if possible. Just make sure the sponsor gets a clear and direct ROI from being the sponsor. Also, be sure to talk to a number of different sponsors, as the more you approach, the much better your chances are of success, and hey you may even be able to start a sort of competition or bidding war between companies to become the title or main sponsor.
  • If you do some research on the celebrity you are targeting, you may be able to get him or her at a very good fee. But you will need to have a budget in-place
  • Work through a talent booking agency, make sure you are clear about what it is you want from the celebrity with the booking agent. Will they be hosting the event, performing, signing autographs, or just making a quick appearance
  • Have a couple of options for different celebrities, in case the one you want is not available or simply cannot be reached
  • Do not sign any kind of contracts without taking some time to carefully review the documents and the information in them. You do not want to be stuck in an ugly situation because you didn’t read the contract carefully enough. You will most likely be dealing with the celebrities agent or manager when booking them. Sometimes they can be a little difficult to deal with, but be polite and don’t be bullied into unfair negotiations. At the same time, don’t make promises you can’t keep either.
  • Finally, if you really feel a celebrity is a perfect fit for your event, be persistent and let your passion come through. Don’t bug them, but show them you really would like to work with them. As an added bonus, here are some extra things to consider when hiring celebrities for any kind of event, from performances to speaking engagements.
The higher profile the celebrity, the more they and their contracts will demand. Some common things include, first class airfare, first class airfare for an assistant, limos, hotel suites, and special amenities in their room such as gourmet food, bottled water, flowers, and other things. If you truly feel that the celebrity will make a big impact on your event, whether it be through drawing attendance, or just pure prestige, then it is usually worth it to get them and accommodate whatever demands they may have.
