I’ve just been jamming around, going wherever the muse has taken me. And this is the first time where I feel like I’m in the saddle and riding my own destiny with some genuine focus.”

Long time Grammy Award-Winning music industry executive and personal manager, featured in VH-1s Behind the Music, Driven and the Biography Channel’s on Guns ‘N’ Roses, Brett Michaels, and Mötley Crüe and the BBC series Born To Be Wild, The Golden Age Of American Rock.

Considered one of the most successful music executives in the industry, Vicky has discovered, developed or managed the careers of Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, Poison, Faster Pussycat and many others. In 1988, David Geffen hired her as A&R executive at Geffen Records, where she stayed until 1992. This is when Vicky started her own label Small Hairy Dog and gave June a label
to call home. Her CD, Press On was released in 1999 and earned a Grammy Award in 2000.

As Hamilton later stated, “I didn’t plan on starting a record company, I just knew that June’s music needed to be heard.”Currently, Vicky owns and operates Aesthetic V management and productions, which represents and develops bands, artist and special projects.  Enjoy the second blog in the series with Slash….next blog will be Vicky Hamilton interviewing Trash McSweeney… For more information see the links below..

Nickelback (c) Nick ElliottPRB Media  is  a celebrity & music booking agency. We are one of the leading booking agencies who book high profile entertainment worldwide. We work with some of the top and biggest agents, managers, agencies, record companies & labels in the world. Below is some information on how to book a ‘Celebrity’ or How to book a ‘music star’ from PRB Media & other talent agencies.

After booking many celebrities and music stars and artists for many events, shows for many years. Have you ever read articles or seen on the news that very famous singers such as “Beyonce” have made stage appearances at bat mitzvah’s, weddings, and other commonly known “life altering” events….. Major artists can attend or perform at a varied selection of events around the world, however large or small, from parties to large arenas, tours, corporate events and festivals.

I do not own the rights to the information I will list below, but PRB Media have given you an idea on ‘How to Book a Celebrity or music star Guide’ When you are thinking about booking a major Hollywood celebrity or music star to perform or just make an appearance at your event, show, Festival or awards ceremony there are a couple things to consider to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Here is a small list of things to keep in mind.
  • Make sure you have a realistic time frame, as most celebrities are booked out very far in advance, as much as a year or more. You want to plan ahead to avoid disappointment.

  • Do you have the budget to obtain the celebrity you want? If not, you may want to try and get a sponsor to offset the cost or cover it entirely if possible. Just make sure the sponsor gets a clear and direct ROI from being the sponsor. Also, be sure to talk to a number of different sponsors, as the more you approach, the much better your chances are of success, and hey you may even be able to start a sort of competition or bidding war between companies to become the title or main sponsor.
  • If you do some research on the celebrity you are targeting, you may be able to get him or her at a very good fee. But you will need to have a budget in-place
  • Work through a talent booking agency, make sure you are clear about what it is you want from the celebrity with the booking agent. Will they be hosting the event, performing, signing autographs, or just making a quick appearance
  • Have a couple of options for different celebrities, in case the one you want is not available or simply cannot be reached
  • Do not sign any kind of contracts without taking some time to carefully review the documents and the information in them. You do not want to be stuck in an ugly situation because you didn’t read the contract carefully enough. You will most likely be dealing with the celebrities agent or manager when booking them. Sometimes they can be a little difficult to deal with, but be polite and don’t be bullied into unfair negotiations. At the same time, don’t make promises you can’t keep either.
  • Finally, if you really feel a celebrity is a perfect fit for your event, be persistent and let your passion come through. Don’t bug them, but show them you really would like to work with them. As an added bonus, here are some extra things to consider when hiring celebrities for any kind of event, from performances to speaking engagements.
The higher profile the celebrity, the more they and their contracts will demand. Some common things include, first class airfare, first class airfare for an assistant, limos, hotel suites, and special amenities in their room such as gourmet food, bottled water, flowers, and other things. If you truly feel that the celebrity will make a big impact on your event, whether it be through drawing attendance, or just pure prestige, then it is usually worth it to get them and accommodate whatever demands they may have.

MUSIC MANAGER – WHAT DO THEY DO??….

Talent & Music Manager

talent manager, also known as an artist manager or band manager, is an individual or company who guides the professional career of artists in the entertainment industry. The responsibility of the talent manager is to oversee the day-to-day business affairs of an artist; advise and counsel talent concerning professional matters, long-term plans and personal decisions which may affect their career.

The roles and responsibilities of a talent manager vary slightly from industry to industry, as do the commissions to which the manager is entitled. For example, a music manager’s duties differ from those managers who advise actors, writers, or directors. A manager can also help artists find an agent, or help them decide when to leave their current agent and identify who to select as a new agent. Talent agents have the authority to make deals for their clients while managers usually can only informally establish connections with producers and studios but do not have the ability to negotiate contracts.

A music manager (or band manager) may handle career areas for bands and singers and DJs.

A music manager may be hired by a musician or band, or the manager may discover the band, and the relationship is usually contractually bound with mutual assurances, warranties, performances guarantees, and so forth. The manager’s main job is to help with determining decisions related to career moves, bookings, promotion, business deals, recording contracts, etc. The role of music managers can be extensive and may include similar duties to that of a press agent, promoter, booking agent, business manager (who are usually certified public accountants), tour manager, and sometimes even a personal assistant. Manager’s contracts, however, cannot license those responsibilities unto the manager in the same way a state license would empower the agent to do so.

Therefore, conflicting areas of interest may arise unless those are clarified in the contract. That said, a manager should be able to read and understand and explain a contracts and study up on the long-term implications of contractual agreements that they, the bands, and the people they do business with, enter into.

Before the manager enters into a with the band, their relationship may be regarded as competing for interest; after a good contract is signed, their interests, obligations and incentives are aligned, and the interest in success is shared. Above is more information about the ”Entertaiment & Music” industry to help and inform people.

Band members as managers:

Sometimes an experienced band member will serve as the group’s music manager until it becomes more established and a dedicated manager can be hired. Some local music managers could be considered musical agents as well, since they primarily represent the band during the booking process and receive a fixed percentage of the band’s gross income as compensation. A music manager working for a local or regional band may also have to supervise the group during a performance and make sure the venue owners meet their financial obligations.
rite your post here.

Multiple managers:

As a solo performer or band becomes more established, some of the chores previously handled by a music manager are often delegated to others. A road manager, for example, may be responsible for the performers’ travel and lodging arrangement, while a publicist takes on the task of promoting the band and advertising upcoming gigs or tour schedules. A manager’s role in a popular regional or national band may be more of a liaison between a record label and the group, or as an immediate supervisor who addresses the personal and professional needs of the band.

Characteristics of a good manager:

An effective music manager should have experience in both the creative and business side of the music industry. Musicians often respond better to managers who speak their language, while record labels and venue owners prefer to work with people who are familiar with performance contracts and other legal obligations. Music managers should not make unilateral decisions for their clients, but should also keep a client’s best interests in mind when negotiating an appearance fee or booking more gigs.

Manager training Training for a music manager is often a combination of on-the-job experience working for established managers and specific business training in musical management. Some traditional music programs in public colleges and universities may offer a concentration in , while vocational schools specifically geared towards the music industry often offer an intensive course of study leading to employment as a freelance music manager.

How Celebrity Ambassadorial Roles Work?

These days the role of celebrity brand ambassadors has increased significantly.

Studies show that consumers use the product if they see that their favourite celebrities are the brand’s ambassadors. They have become brand ambassadors from products and well known international Brands such as Omega, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Coca Cola, Loreal and Chanel.

That’s why companies these days use celebrities to head their advertising campaign to attract more customers. What is a brand ambassador? And what is its significant role of changing the face of beauty.

A brand ambassador is hired by a certain company to act as the face of the brand. They represent what the product or service is all about. In addition, they are chosen because they have the right look and image to be the Face and Ambassador of the Company and Brand.

Being a brand ambassador can be very tricky because you have to maintain a good and clean image. They have to make sure that they won’t do something stupid that can tarnish the image and reputation of the company. There have been instances in which some celebrity endorsers have been kicked out of the advertising campaign because of a bad thing that they did. Of course, companies are paying a lot of money to hire celebrities to be the face of their campaign. The least thing that a celebrity can do is to maintain a clean image.

Indeed, celebrities have changed the face of advertising. They have become the target of companies be their representative because of their influence with consumers. Think about it, if Leonardo Dicaprio wasn’t the image model of the brand Tag Heuer, or Daniel Craig wasn’t the Model of the Brand Omega, do you think the company will experience an increase on their sales?  Furthermore, designer brands like St. John and Louis Vuitton have used celebrities instead of models to star in their ad campaigns. For instance, celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Madonna.

As you can see, the world of branding has changed significantly in past years. While there are still some companies that opt to use ordinary people to star in their campaign, most major brands prefer to use celebrities. This is their way of preserving status and prestige in the competitive world of business.
